Interesting thought piece on the way forward, and a reminder to not loose sight of why many of us were attracted to this area of development: addressing poverty through financial services. I do hope as the new shiny object, fintech will eventually become normalized without suffering the reputational problems which microfinance had following the AP crisis. Then, the real understanding of its value vis-à-vis impact on low-income customers can be properly understood and the lessons therein can shape pro-poor digital solutions in a range of areas.
